I was approached a couple of months ago to participate in a new Vanderbilt alumni networking event called Headshots and Happy Hour. The premise is simple. Send out notice to the alumni association about a networking event where you can come hang out, have a few beers, and mingle. The neat part is that for a small fee, people can have a professional photographer (me!) snap a couple of pix of them before they get too many beers deep. That way they can update their Linkedin or Facebook profiles without the crappiness of mall photo studios or paying a few hundred bucks for a full session fee. All in all I really enjoyed. I got to meet a lot of new people, give out business cards and tell them about Alex the Photo Guy and take a few pix along the way! Here are some of the shots we got with a simple white background and 3 lights.

Finally back from the honeymoon and trying to get back into the blogging schedule. More to come on what I’ve been up to, but here it the final family from my Four Families in Four Hours sessions in Roswell, GA. Here are the Von Holts!

Of course you have to taste it. Why not?

Family number two of our Super Sunday Photo Block (sounds like a radio show, right?) was the Sullivans. We’ve seen them on the APG blog before but the occasion today was Elena’s two-year photos. She is such a cutie and was definitely taught the word “cheeeeeese” as can be seen in this first photo. She was saying it even before I started snapping photos, so you could tell Mommy and Daddy prepped her well.

Throwing stones with Mommy.

From my post a couple of weeks back, you saw the men in uniform that performed the Saber Arch down the aisle for Marisa and Andy. Now the full post with the rest of the photos. Keri and had a wonderful time helping share in the Geberts’ big day and also give a big thanks to the Cobb Galleria Center and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for being so helpful with all of the photography needs.

And the best pic from the church…

Best cake cutting tool ever.

Most of my wedding previews don’t look like this one, but I will say the Saber Arch at Marisa and Andy Gebert’s wedding was pretty darn cool. I got an email from Marisa today saying that they moved out to Oklahoma where Andy is stationed just a week after the honeymoon. These men below in uniform represent all the branches of the military and I know we can’t thank them enough for serving.

As I have alluded to in the past, it always takes me a while to edit my personal photos. When I go on vacation and take pictures, it always seems that when I get back, paid gigs seem to come my way and take precedent to whatever personal work I want to take care of. As far as mine and Keri’s Italy trip goes, I had weddings, portrait sessions, and the fact that I took 2,600 photos working against me.
I’m trying to chip away at it city by city from the trip. You can see Day 1 in Suttgart, Germany here. I’ve finally gotten through days 2 & 3 in Venice and soon to come will be days 4 & 5 in Cinque Terre. Feel free to give me honest feedback as I’m normally more of a portrait photographer than I am of landscapes. If you have an interest in any prints in particular, email me!

We went to the island of Murano and watched this guy turn the glowing blob of glass below…

Just a fun little reminder that when you have a portrait session with Alex the Photo Guy, you get a nifty online gallery of your photos to share with family and friends. Along with that gallery you get access to all kinds of exciting gifts, prints, canvas prints, and cards. The cards are super easy to make online with hundreds of customizable templates. Here are a few from recent portrait sessions.
Click on the cards for a larger view.

Happy Holidays from Alex the Photo Guy!
